This core concept of grace is iconic to the Christian faith. This isn’t a posture of sizing up what we think we’re capable of, and exerting effort to earn right standing. This was the God who decisively chose to give of himself as he brought Israel out of bondage, and revealed Himself to them. It’s a striking pattern where God ultimately makes the first move – Israel did not earn that libration. May we be a church who can celebrate the cry “you called my name…and I ran out of that grave”…out of a place of self justification or a life in defiance of God. Worship and surrender is such a logical response to that kind of God. Worship is such a logical response to a God who calls our name…to a God who liberates us from the bondage of sin…to a God who mends hearts.
