6th March 2022 | In term 1 we will be looking at Kids in the Bible!

Bible Story –

Our story this week is about Jesus when he was growing up. Most stories about Jesus happen when he was grown up. But Jesus was born as baby and grew up just like us, and the Bible records a couple of stories about Jesus as a kid.

You can find it in Luke 2:41-52.

In the videos above – the first story gives some background about what Jesus’ life was probably like as a kid. The second video has our Bible passage story beginning from 1:38 (but you can watch the whole video if you prefer).

Questions to Discuss

- What is different about Jesus’ childhood and yours? What is similar?
- Was there something that you thought was strange or made you curious in the story?
- In these stories, Jesus understood more about God, and knew God as a person (or a friend) by reading about God, praying and talking with people at the temple. What helps you know God like a friend?

Bible Story – God Works Through Josiah

Our story this week is God Works Through Josiah. Josiah became King of Judah when he was 8 years old.

You can find it in 2 Kings 22

Questions to Discuss

- What was important to Josiah?
- Josiah tried to do what God wanted. What were some things he did to show this before he found out about the message (God’s law)?
- What were some things he did afterward?
- Josiah could help lots of people follow God, because he was the king. What are some things you could do?

Bible Story – God Works Through A Servant Girl

Our story this week is God Works Through A Servant Girl

You can find it in 2 Kings 5:1-14

We don’t know the name of the girl in the story, but we do that she trusts God and that God uses her faith (or trust in God) to help someone else.

Questions to Discuss

What is different about the servant girl’s attitude and Naaman’s attitude?
Why do you think God decided to help Naaman through a servant girl’s advice instead of another way?
What did each of these people discover about God?

Find – Play – Share

At Kids Church (In-person) we are making some prayer books for this term where we can write down lots of things to share with God including our favourite parts of the stories, what we discovered about God, questions we might have and other things we’d like to let God know about.

You can make one too.

FIND

A book with space to write in. You could use an exercise book, a scrapbook, a notebook or make a book from some scrap paper.
Check with Mum or Dad (or another grownup you trust) if you’re not sure or need help.

PLAY

Decorate your book’s cover.
Add some stickers, a colourful background, a special title or drawing.

SHARE

What is one thing about you that you would like to share with God? Write or draw about it on the first page.
You could also add your favourite part of today’s story, or something you discovered about God.

Your favourite story about a kid (it could be a book, a comic, a movie. It could be from the Bible, but it doesn’t have to be.)

PLAY

Retell your favourite stories to each other. If it’s a long story you might just like to tell your favourite part. You could put on your best storyteller hat to read your story or get creative and retell your stories like a play (drama), with Lego or puppet show.

If there is something in your favourite story that reminds you about God or God’s family (no right or wrong answers)
