Something Dan mentioned this morning is this idea that we have a proclivity to find ourselves ‘of’ the world, though we intend to only be ‘in’ the world…that though we know we are the body of Christ, that isn’t an easy truth to embrace when other temptations seem more immediately available, or the chaos of keeping up financially is weighing on us.
There are many ways we can take the time to track how deeply woven into our culture we have become, to our spiritual detriment – and therefore to the detriment of our own health even. Recognizing this and acknowledging that this is a reality is one thing…but taking the time to re-remember the cosmic city we’re a true citizen of is another thing. How does that happen? The psalms suggest there is this thing that happens when we take the time to come before God…eg Psalm 73:17. To consider Him…to behold His ways. In the midst of a more strange version of tiredness many of us are feeling at the moment, what more need could there be for us to recall our sense of whose we are…to behold the glory of God
