Steve Hales: Senior Pastor

Rev Steve Hales is married to Erica and they have two beautiful daughters, Sarita and Jasmine. Together they make a formidable team: Erica with her musical talent, Sarita with her passion for social justice, Jasmine with her love of music and creativity, and Steve with… well, he can afford to lean on their excellence.
Before training for ministry, Steve worked as a High School Teacher and before that in various Youth Residential Programs. He trained at Morling College and has now been in pastoral ministry since 2001, serving at West Ryde until commencing at Carlingford at the beginning of 2015.
He loves being part of a community of people open to God’s leading, ready to learn, grow and serve. He loves the growing diversity in our church. When no-one is looking, he also loves to throw the camping gear in the car and head up the coast with his family.

Dan Waugh: Youth and Young Adults Pastor

Daniel came to the church with his parents when he moved from Taree as a child and has been with us ever since. In 2013 left his engineering studies at UNSW to begin his Bachelor of Theology at Morling College, managing to fit in his studies around going to the beach and skateboarding. More than anything else, his passion is for youth mentoring and in 2016 Daniel was appointed as youth and young adults pastor.
Daniel is in love with our church’s vision and actively seeks to see it realised in the youth community, that they might be driven by mission, unified with the church and centred on discipleship.

Emma Ridley: Children's Ministry Worker

Emma has been attending Carlingford Baptist Church since 2003 and has been involved in the children's ministry for many years. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education and worked as a teacher at various early learning centres. Emma is passionate about children's faith formation and finding creative ways to engage in disciple-making within the family and church community.
In her spare time Emma enjoys bushwalking, origami and curling up with a good book or playing computer and card games with her husband, Peter.

Kim Poon: Business Manager

Kim Poon was born in Malaysia and migrated to Australia since 2018. He has been serving in worship ministry mainly as sound or AV technician since attending Carlingford Baptist Church. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering (from Uni of Newcastle) and with over 19 years of experience in telecommunication industry. He seeks to assist CBC to comply with existing and any new Safe Church practice/policies. He is also assessing suitable and efficient ways to improve communication and collaboration between pastoral team and volunteers/helper through church management software. He is married to Carmen and has two children Chloe and Rachel. He enjoys learning about new technologies, cooking and hanging out with family watching movies, playing various board or computer games, swimming and tennis.

David Choi: Pastor - Korean Community

Rev David Choi was born in South Korea and came to Australia in 2013.
He is married to Abigail and has three children Angela, Alex and Amy.
He trained at the Korean Baptist University and Seminary and has been serving in Pastoral Ministry since 2008.
David is passionate to be part of a Multicultural Church and has a vision for those who have been burnt out and for the next generation. He enjoys reading, cooking, fishing and bowling.

Nick Song: Pastor - Mandarin Community

Pastor Nick Song (宋天祥) was born in China and came to Australia in 2007. He is married to Xiaomin Liu and has one adult daughter - Liwen Song. He trained at the Chinese Theological College Australia and has been serving in Pastoral Ministry since 2011.
Nick is excited about the challenge of guiding our Mandarin community to understand, accept and engage in our multi-cultural society under God, to become part of a Christ-centred community, growing in faith and sharing the Gospel.
He enjoys reading, playing bridge and fishing.
